Best Record-Breaking Performance

The nominees for Best Record-Breaking Performance are Usain Bolt (100 and 200-meter World Records), Brett Favre (NFL record for consecutive starts), Roger Federer (Most Grand Slam singles titles), Connecticut Women's Basketball (Longest winning streak in Women's NCAA Basketball History), and Isner vs. Mahut at Wimbledon (Longest Match in Professional Tennis History).

Usain Bolt set the record for the 100-meter with a time of 9.58 seconds. He then set the record for the 200-meter with a time of 19.19 seconds.

Brett Favre broke the NFL record for consecutive starts last year with his 285.

Connecticut has won 78 games in a row, breaking its own record set of 70 games. Their margin of victory throughout the streak: 32.58 points per game.

The John Isner, Nicolas Mahut tennis match at Wimbledon was the longest in the history of tennis by a good margin. The match lasted over 11 hours -- the fifth set alone over 8 hours. The game was halted twice because of darkness. At Wimbledon, to win a tie-breaker, a player needs to win by two games in the fifth set. Isner won 70-68 in the tiebreaker.
