Today NFC Championship Game

Today NFC Championship Game 2011 - The NFL Playoffs are happening, with some good games on the docket too, but you know it's the holiday season when Mel Kiper's 2011 mock draft makes its first appearance. Practices have wrapped up for the East-West Shrine Game, with the actual game set for Saturday. Next week, it's the Senior Bowl. Here's a little draft reading to put you to sleep, or keep you up at night.

Wes Bunting practice notes
Bunting points to Citadel CB Cortez Allen as an intriguing small school player to keep an eye on. In particular, he "opened eyes" with his work as a press corner, but struggles in zone...sounds a little like Jerome Murphy. The upside: PA system can play "Cortez the Killer" by Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

EWU RB Taiwan Jones 57th underclassman in draft
Taiwan Jones was left out of initial lists of underclassmen in the draft. He'll get some attention because he fits a popular new model of prospect, the smaller, speedster...with a long list of injuries. I'll be really curious to see if this type of running back is on the Rams' radar as draft time rolls around.

East-West Shrine Game risers and sliders

NFL Draft Bible takes a look at players who gave their stock a boost in practice this week for the Shrine Game, and those that hurt their draft stock as well. A couple of players who might be of interest to Rams fans include UConn LB Scott Lutrus, Maryland RB Da'Rell Scott (which should be plenty confusing is Rams' DT Darrell Scott remains on the roster) and Lehigh OG Williams Rackley. Scott's a speedy back who, according to this review, might make a nice part of a committee in the NFL. Hey, Josh McDaniels likes to use multiple running backs...

2011 Senior Bowl rosters

This week it's the Shrine Game; next week it's the Senior Bowl...don't you love this time of year? Here's the roster for the 2011 Senior Bowl, take a look. There are some big names in this bunch. Receivers to watch next week: Leonard Hankerson, Jerrel Jernigan, and more. I know not everybody is down with him, but I'm interested in Oklahoma RB DeMarco Murray who's playing in the Senior Bowl too.

2011 NFL Draft: Drafting Quarterbacks Isn't An Exact Science

Yes, I know the Rams aren't looking for a QB, but this piece is interesting after having seen them draft a QB last year who was particularly successful as a rookie, despite not meeting all of Bill Parcels' requirements.
