Dwaine Caraway Mayor of Dallas - The mayor of Dallas says he did not sanction giving a quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick a “Key to the City.” Vick has won The Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year last season, his second in the NFL since his post 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting operation. In a statement released Monday, Mayor Tom Leppert his distance from the donation. “The measures taken have not been sanctioned by my office and was not an honor ceremony on behalf of the City of Dallas,” he said.

He said the mayor presents “key official of the city” or an elected official appointed by the mayor and is reserved for “an elected official international status.”

“Clearly, this was not the case in this situation and without my knowledge or approval,” he said.
