Celebrate the Fat Tuesday 2011 in Mardi Gras 2011

Celebrate the Fat Tuesday 2011 in Mardi Gras 2011 - Fat Tuesday 2011 is a time to live it up, party, and indulge right before Ash Wednesday when Lent starts and people start giving up this and that. But many? They just celebrate Fat Tuesday and just forget about that whole lent thing.

Fat Tuesday 2011 is the day to eat, drink and be merry. And really, who doesn’t want to do that? And there will most likely be a slew of celebrities celebrating Fat Tuesday. Check out who has ties to New Orleans and Louisiana, which is the epicenter of Madri Gras celebrating in the United States.

Sandra Bullock adopted a baby from New Orleans and bought a home there, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spend a lot of time at their home in the French Quarter, also Ali Landry (a Cajun and Breaux Bridge native), of course celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, Ellen DeGeneres (she’s a New Orleans native), home town son Harry Connick Jr, Harry Shearer (of Simpsons and Spinal Tap fame), John Goodman, Lil Wayne, Master P, American Idol’s Randy Jackson was born in Baton Rogue, and although Reese Witherspoon was rasied in Nashville, she was born in New Orleans.
Everyone wants in on a New Orleans-style celebration. Here’s a handy list of restaurants and bars running specials tomorrow.

Sushi RA – This Plano joint is hosting a bash that starts at 9 pm with a special Mardi Gras menu and of course, cheap drinks.

Big Shucks and AW Shucks — Tuesday night, the Cajun boiled shrimp is $8.95 (two bucks cheaper than usual). On Ash Wednesday, get a catfish fillet, two shrimp, two oysters, and fries for $5.95. Every Friday throughout Lent, catch the grilled tilapia, also for $8.95.

Margaux’s — Already cooking Creole/Cajun, but pulling out all the stops with a prix fixe buffet of authentic specialties.

Brownstone Restaurant & Lounge — For the Fort Worth crowd, there’s a special three course menu for $30 and drink specials galore (including $4 hurricanes). A DJ shows up at 9 pm and plays until 2 am.

The Grapevine Bar — Happy hour all day, plus their “Beads and Booze” party. All frozen drinks are $3 (so that means you can also get their signature Everclear bellini), and wells are $2. Beads are free, of course.
