Tsunami warning canceled in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii, United States—Authorities on Saturday canceled a tsunami warning in Hawaii after a powerful earthquake in Chile triggered waves of nearly one meter in the Pacific island US state.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center called off the alert at 1:38 p.m. (2338 GMT).
It had registered the highest wave of 0.98 meters (three feet, two inches) at Kahului on the island of Maui.
