ESPY Awards 2010:Best Upset

 Top 4 ESPY Awards:Best Upset

The nominees for Best Upset are Frankie Edgar over B.J. Penn (MMA), Hawaii softball upsets #1 Alabama (NCAA Softball), Northern Iowa shocks No. 1 Kansas (NCAA Men's Basketball), Y. E. Yang stuns Tiger Woods (PGA Championship).

Frankie Edgar beat B.J. Penn to win the MMA lightweight championship in April. The scores were 50-45, 49-46 and 48-47, all favoring Edgar.

Hawaii beat Alabama to reach the College World Series after losing the first game 8-0. They were losing 4-3 in the final inning of the decisive Game 3, when Hawaii's Jenna Rodriguez hit a game-winning, two-run homer. Alabama was ranked number one.

Northern Iowa was the nine seed in this year's NCAA tournament. This means that, if they beat the eight seed in their first round match up, they face the one seed -- the best team in the region. Northern Iowa won its first round match. So did one seed Kansas. Many predicted Kansas to win the entire tournament. That didn't happen. Northern Iowa shocked the Jayhawks with a 69-67 victory.

After leading for three of the four days, it was assumed that Tiger Woods would win the PGA Championship -- especially since he was 14 for 14 in those cases. He became 14 for 15, though, on that Sunday in August.
