Barbra Streisand, Robert Redford reunite for Oprah Winfrey: Oprah Winfrey continues her sentimental journey through pop culture on Tuesday.

Lady O will bring together Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford, the stars of “The Way We Were,” the 1973 romantic drama that causes large portions of the American populace to swoon.

Redford’s appearance is a surprise, and the Winfrey folks crow that it’s the first interview the two stars have ever done together. That should be something to see.

The Winfrey public-relations machine says the show will offer a tour of Streisand’s dream home and also this: “intimate secrets from her leading men.” Promo clips showed Mandy Patinkin (“Yentl”) and Kris Kristofferson (“A Star Is Born”) talking about Streisand. She also sings and promotes her book “My Passion for Design.”

Winfrey has been on a reunion kick — and that’s no complaint because viewers love these shows. She brought together Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer and the children from “The Sound of Music.” Winfrey pulled together former talk-show hosts. And today, she offers a reunion of the cast from “The Color Purple.” Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg will discuss rumors that they had some sort of falling-out.
