Try to Remember Alex Brown

Try to Remember Alex Brown - Hidden behind the In$ider paywall because they must not want to get too much traffic, is Mel Kiper's re-draft of the 2005 NFL Draft. Without a doubt few teams could benefit more from jumping in the WayBack Machine and getting a do-over on that one than the St. Louis Rams. You'll recall that's the draft when they selected OT Alex Barron with the 19th overall pick.

Kiper gives the Rams OG Logan Makins, who the Patriots actually selected with the last pick of the first round. No doubt that would have been a better pick than Barron; the Rams still had Orlando Pace at that point. However, the Rams did actually draft a pretty good guard that year taking Richie Incognito in the third round. It's just that Richie had his own problems, and was finally released late in 2009.

The Rams could have done themselves a favor by selecting TE Heath Miller, WR Roddy White (though they had Holt and Bruce at the time), DE Justin Tuck (who went the third round) or even Aaron Rodgers, who was available when the Rams made their pick (they had Bulger who was fine at the time though).

As bad as that draft was, at least the Rams did manage to get Ron Bartell and Oshiomogho Atogwe, who have since become the backbone of the secondary. And that year's draft paled in comparison to the flop that came the following April.

Ah, hindsight. Maybe the Rams will try to acquire Mankins in free agency this year.

According to the announced list of NFL football players who got included in the 2011 Pro Bowl roster,New England Patriots got the most number of selections in the AFC with 8 football players. In the NFC, Atlanta Falcons got the most number with 9 players.

Oregon's cheerleaders new football uniforms

Oregon's cheerleaders new football uniforms - Not to be outdone by their male compatriots in the 2011 BCS Championship Game, the Oregon Ducks cheerleaders have new uniforms of their own, provided, of course, by the school's bottomless Nike connections:

Traditionally outfitted in sports bras and micro-minis, these uniforms are a departure in that they're ... different sports bras and micro-minis! Say what you want about the color scheme, but they at least adhere to the school's stated palette of yellow and green, unlike the muted silver and gray currently being rocked by the actual football team. (Can you call a uniform muted if it includes neon yellow socks? We need a ruling here.) And if you can spare a moment from ogling the ladies, cast a sop of sympathy towards the boys, whose racerback-looking shirt patterns are doing them no favors.

Stay tuned to this StoryStream throughout the game for more live score updates, and connect with Oregon and Auburn fans at SB Nation's Addicted To Quack and Track Em Tigers.

Under armour high school football game 2011

Under armour high school football game 2011 - The GACA North/South All-Star game already concluded. Tonight at 7 p.m. ESPNU will televise the 2011 Under Armour All-American game, which features many of the best high school players from around the country. It is now that time of year when I can safely cover recruiting without turning the creep factor up to 11. One sign of the transition to "stuff normal people do" from "stuff people played by Steve Buschemi in the eventual made-for-TV movie do" is the annual January proliferation of high school all-star games. Of course, the football played at these events is exactly what you would expect from a gaggle of high schoolers who've never played together and are learning how to over the course of a week. It's generally pretty bland. The real show is the commitments, a cavalcade of hat-picking, teeshirt donning, and camera mugging bound to either convince you that your squad is on the rise (thanks to its new bluechippers) or doomed for brisk failure (because who knew Rivals had started giving negative star ratings?).

Where s The Beef - Brady's Bowl Louisville vs. S. Miss

Where s The Beef - Brady's Bowl: Louisville vs. S. Miss - Louisville and Southern Miss didn't play for conference championships this season, but both programs came closer than many outside of Louisville and Hattiesburg may have realized.

The Cardinals improved by two games, from 4-8 to 6-6, in a weakened Big East. Other teams may have had an edge in size or talent, but the Cardinals rarely were overmatched in their first season under coach Charlie Strong. Of their six losses, five came by eight or fewer points; in the lone double-digit loss - 20-3 to Pittsburgh - Louisville trailed by a field goal at halftime.

WHO GETS THE EDGE?
Louisville rush offense vs. Southern Miss rush defense: Despite being hobbled by injuries late in the season, senior Bilal Powell averaged 120.9 rushing yards per game. At 6-foot and 215 pounds, he's tough to bring down, and he plays behind one of the best lines in the Big East. Powell is playing about 90 minutes from his hometown of Lakeland, Fla. Louisville also has capable backups in true freshman Jeremy Wright and former starter Victor Anderson. Southern Miss has a highly ranked but inconsistent run defense. The Eagles held six opponents to fewer than 100 yards, but South Carolina, UAB and Tulsa were able to rush for at least 200 yards and four touchdowns each. Edge: Louisville.

Who the hell is Shaun Suisham

Who the hell is Shaun Suisham?

You may have heard by now, Jeff Reed has been cut and replaced by Shaun Suisham So, who the hell is Shaun Suisham, and how does he stack up? Here is a quick look.

Suisham is a 6'0 200 lb Canuck from the great white north of Ontario, Canada. At 29 years old he is two years younger than Jeff Reed and has six year's experience as an NFL kicker. In his last stop with the Redskins Suisham connected on 85.7% of his FG attempts, compared to 65.2% for Jeff Reed so far this year. Suisham played his college ball at Bowling Green, and that coupled with his time in Washington and Canada, the cold and sloppy weather of Pittsburgh in December shouldn't be much of a problem for him as Mike Tomlin pointed out repeatedly in his presser. Some red flags on Suisham are apparent however. In the playoffs for Dallas last year he missed FG's of 48 and 49 yards in a loss to the Vikings. He was also cut by the Rams and Browns in training camp this summer. Suisham is probably a 1 year band-aid for the Steelers meaning they will be on the open market for a kicker again after the season.
