“With Wes Welker, well, I think it’s a huge game rivalry type and something happens. I can take it,” Ryan said Friday. “I will not discuss it, but I can take it. ”

Earlier this month Jets coach Rex Ryan found himself in a scandal when “foot fetish” videos were released featuring his wife Michelle. On Thursday (Jan. 13) Patriots’ wide receiver Wes Welker had a press interview where he worked in the words “foot,” “feet,” and “toes,” 11 times. And so the war of words has begun.

Even though Rex Ryan refuses to discuss the leaked videos, he goes on to say this. “With Wes Welker, well, I think this is a huge rivalry type game and anything goes. I can take it,” Ryan said Friday. “I’m not going to discuss it, but I can take it.”

Since the first images appeared last month, the topic has been taboo for the coach. He has steadfastly refused to comment on it, calling it a “personal matter.”

Ryan and Welker will come head to head in Sunday’s divisional playoff game. Who thinks this isn’t the end of their feud?

Wes Welker foot - The New York Jets, specifically Rex Ryan and Antonio Cromartie, have spent some time trash talking and ripping New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady over the last two weeks. On Thursday, Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker stepped up to the podium for a media session and subtly jabbed the Jets coach's foot fetish by making 11 "foot" references.

"These are the games you play for. What you spend all year getting ready for and you just want to put your best foot forward," Welker said with a straight face.

He also said that Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and Patriots teammate Deion Branch have "great feet."
